Structure of the Organisation

HOG depends, on one hand, on the active and committed participation of its members, and on the other hand, on the support of donors and others who support HOG. There are two types of membership: ‘active’ for all those who participated in the past or the present in one project or another. An important aspect is participation in the regularly scheduled members’ meetings, where project reports are presented and workshops take place.

There is also "associate membership" for those who cannot afford so much time, but still want to offer regular support to HOG. Membership fees for HOG are tax deductible.

HOG is a grassroots organization. Important decisions are always discussed and voted on at the biannual members’ meetings. The female members are organized into ten regional groups, depending on where they live. The regional groups hold separate meetings at shorter intervals, e.g. to organize local activities. The leaders of all regional groups together form a committee which reports to the Board, specifically on regional developments. There is also a committee comprising project managers and project training managers.

The Board

The Board of Directors of HOG is a relatively large includes the following directly elected posts:

  • Chairperson
  • Vice-chairperson
  • Treasurer
  • Public Relations Officer

In addition, the spokespersons of the above-mentioned commitees (project leaders, training leaders and regional leaders) are also eligible to vote in board meetings.
